Esri Integration

  • Updated

Learn how to seamlessly push your Ecobot data to Esri ArcGIS Online from within Ecobot Manager.

Pushing your data from Ecobot to Esri ArcGIS Online is an efficient way to consolidate your project data in one place for you and your GIS team.

About the Integration

  • The Ecobot Esri integration is compatible with Esri ArcGIS Online (read about other versions).
  • Pushed data flows one way from Ecobot to Esri ArcGIS Online. Data cannot be sent from Esri to Ecobot.
  • The integration is only available from Ecobot Manager, which can be accessed via web browser. It is not available in the Ecobot Collector (mobile app).
  • To add this time-saving step to your workflow, each user will need to set up the main integration. Following this, data from individual surveys can be pushed from each Ecobot Survey page.
    • Note: The Esri ArcGIS Online user credentials used in the integration must have publisher rights in Esri ArcGIS Online to successfully push data.
  • An integrated Project arrives in Esri ArcGIS Online as a Hosted Feature Layer

Setting Up the Main Integration

Reminder: You must have Publishing permissions in Esri to use the integration.

  1. In Ecobot, each Ecobot license will need to set up the integration before pushing individual survey files. For example, if your team has three different Ecobot login credentials, each one will need to be integrated with Esri separately.
    1. Product note: The same Esri ArcGIS Online login credentials can be used for multiple Ecobot license integrations.
  2. Click on settings in the lower left, then Integrations.
  3. In the Integrations window, locate the Esri section and select the blue Connect button.
  4. Sign in with your Esri credentials:
    1. ArcGIS login (default) - best option for most ArcGIS Online users
    2. Your ArcGIS organization's URL - use only if your company has an ArcGIS Online company-specific URL
  5. This completes the initial Esri integration.
    1. Product note: As long as surveys are being integrated on a consistent basis, this integration will remain active. However, if there is no integration activity for two weeks, users will need to complete this main integration again.

Ecobot Survey Data in Esri ArcGIS

When a Survey is Integrated for the 1st Time

  • When an Ecobot Survey is pusheded to Esri ArcGIS Online, the Hosted Feature Layer is created in the Content section > My Content tab.
    • If ArcGIS Online is already open and you don't see your pushed project appear, please refresh the page.
  • The name of the Hosted Feature Layer will be the Project's Name in Ecobot plus a randomized set of letters.
    • This name can be changed after pushing without interfering with future successful pushes of the same Project data*
    • Product note: The reason a section of randomized letters are added onto the Project Name is to ensure a successful push. Esri ArcGIS Online doesn't allow duplicate file names, so the added set of letters ensures differentiation.

When a Project is Integrated for the 2nd+ Time

  • *If a pushed Project's Hosted Feature Layer has not been moved in Esri ArcGIS Online (it is still located in the My Content page), then the next time the Project is pushed, the data in the Esri file will be updated with the most recent information from Ecobot
  • If a pushed Project has been moved in Esri, integrating the Project again will create a new Hosted Feature Layer. This new file will be created in the My Content page.

Using Ecobot Data in Esri

Once Ecobot data is sent to the compatible Esri platforms through the integration, that data can be leveraged with Esri products such as FieldMaps and ArcGIS Pro.
