Learn about the components of the Ecobot platform and how data is managed.
Key Takeaways:
- Always check in a survey as soon as data collection is finished for the day to ensure that data is synced to the cloud and the survey is accessible even if the mobile device is lost, reset, or damaged.
- Ensure all surveys are checked in before resetting a device.

How does Ecobot work?
Accessing Surveys: Check In & Check Out
- Ecobot data are stored in the cloud. Data are stored as Surveys.
- To enable offline usage of Ecobot Collector so teams can collect and store data securely in the field, a Survey check-in/check-out system is in place.
- Surveys can be checked out by individual Ecobot Users on either Ecobot Manager or Ecobot Collector.
- Once checked out, the Survey should be worked on by that user on Manager or Collector. On collector, survey data is stored locally so that users can continue working in the field with no service.
- When users are store
- Checking in the Survey syncs it to the Cloud. Checked in surveys are fully synced and available for future check out on Manager or Collector.
Device Management
- Each Ecobot license is designed to be used by one user on one mobile device (for Collector) and a web browser (for Manager).
- Trying to use multiple devices for each login can put data at risk because the data is stored locally on the device when Survey(s) are checked out.
- When a mobile device has a Survey checked out and the Survey is edited, new data for that Survey is stored locally. Therefore, when a user returns to cell service, we recommend syncing and/or checking Surveys in as soon as possible so the data is synced back to the cloud.
- If mobile devices need to be wiped or reset for any reason, please check in all surveys on that device prior to reseting the device.
- Reseting/wiping a mobile device breaks the connection between Ecobot Collector and that device, otherwise referred to as a Token, and creates a new Token.
- If mobile devices are wiped before Surveys are checked in, any new data that was locally stored on the device and not synced will be stuck on the old Token and lost after the device is reset.
