Recommended Workflows

Ecobot was designed to align with the processes used by field scientists and project managers. Here are two common workflows used by Ecobot Customers.

Start surveys in the field (often used for small projects)

Jump right in from the field in Ecobot Collector on your iOS mobile app, then QA/QC and get forms from Ecobot Manager. To use this workflow:

  1. In Ecobot Collector:
    1. Create a survey
    2. Create your first point
    3. Either Clone your first point or add a second point from Scratch
    4. Check in your survey when finished
  2. In Ecobot Manager:
    1. Check out your survey
    2. Auto-populate location data & bulk edit points
    3. QA/QC using edit points, CSV or PDF downloads
    4. Download final PDF forms
    5. Send project data to Esri ArcGIS Online

Set up surveys before field work (often used for larger projects)

Set your field team up for efficiency by creating the survey as well as a template point with standard remarks in the office on Ecobot Manager. Then, your field crew can use Ecobot Collector in the field to clone the point and collect data. To use this workflow:

  1. In Ecobot Manager:
    1. Create a survey
    2. Set Defaults
    3. Create a template point
    4. Check in your survey
  2. In Ecobot Collector:
    1. Check out your survey
    2. Clone template point(s)
    3. Edit cloned points and complete data collection
    4. Check in your survey
  3. In Ecobot Manager:
    1. Check out your survey
    2. Auto-populate location data & bulk edit points
    3. QA/QC using edit points, CSV or PDF downloads
    4. Download final PDF forms
    5. Send project data to Esri ArcGIS Online
