Ecobot's field data collection types include the Ordinary High Water Mark (OHWM) form released by the USACE (announcement details). The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and EPA (the Agencies) jointly announced the availability of the Interim Draft of the National Ordinary High Water Mark Field Delineation Manual for Rivers and Streams (National OHWM Manual) and its accompanying data sheet in 2022.
What is OHWM?
Field data collection of the OHWM is a crucial process in environmental monitoring and management. The OHWM represents the boundary of a body of water's typical, recurring high-water level.
Gathering this data involves sending trained scientists to observe and document the highest water level visible during regular or average conditions, without influence from exceptional events like storms or floods.
Accurate OHWM data is essential for land use planning, permitting, and safeguarding ecosystems, ensuring responsible water resource management.
