Using a Trimble GNSS? Please refer to the tip at the bottom of this article.

To Pair a GNSS Device with Ecobot Collector for iOS

Leica, EOS, Juniper

  1. Enable bluetooth on both the mobile device with Ecobot Collector (iOS or Android) and the GNSS unit.
  2. Navigate to bluetooth on the mobile device, and pair your GNSS unit to your mobile device
  3. Open Ecobot on the mobile device
  4. Create a Point in a new or existing Survey.
    1. A connected GNSS will be visible on the Add Point page at the top of the app. The type or number of the device will display in purple text if connected.

*If you are using a Trimble GNSS device you MUST be running the Trimble Mobile Manager app and have the Trimble device connected to that app in order to get GNSS data from a Trimble device into Ecobot.

**If you are using an Eos device, simply connect via Bluetooth. You do not need to be running a companion application to receive location data inside Ecobot.

***If you are using a Juniper device, simply connect via Bluetooth. If you experience an issue using a Geode, Juniper recommends turning off battery optimization and disabling the Geode Connect.

For a GPS or GNSS device to work with Ecobot Collector on an iOS device, it must be compatible with current versions of iOS. Some older GPS or GNSS devices may no longer sync to updated iOS devices. Please refer to your GPS or GNSS device manufacturer's resources to learn whether or not your device works with updated iOS devices.

To Pair a GNSS Device with Ecobot Collector for Android

  1. Verify your GNSS device is compatible (please see linked article above)
  2. Remove past paired GNSS devices from your Android device
    1. Under Bluetooth, see if there are any GNSS devices which have paired in the past but you'll not be pairing with for this session.
    2. If there are other GNSS devices paired with your Android devices listed that you'll not be using, remove them from your paired device list. The method for doing so differs by device.
  3. Pair your GNSS device
    1. Ensure your Android device and GNSS device both have bluetooth turned on.
    2. In your Android device's Bluetooth section, select your GNSS device to pair it.
    3. [Trimble GNSS users only] Open the Trimble Mobile Manager app on your Android device. Leave this running in the background while you use Ecobot.
  4. You're ready to start using Ecobot with your paired device!

Verify your device is connecting in Ecobot by adding a point.

Tips for GNSS Pairing with Android

  • Pairing will only connect to one GNSS device. Make sure no other GNSS devices are paired with your Android device. If more than one is paired, only the top GNSS device listed will pair. To ensure a successful pairing, please remove any other GNSS devices from your Android device's Bluetooth page.
  • Trimble GNSS - If you're using a Trimble GNSS with Android, make sure you have the Trimble Mobile Manager app, and the Developer setting called "Allow Mock Location" is enabled on your Android device. For more information, please refer to this article from Trimble.
  • Juniper Geode GNSS - If you're using a Geode, make sure you open the Geode Connect App and confirm that the geode is connected to satellites before using it with Ecobot.
